This is a question that i get asked frequently and it is not hard to answer!!
If you love the sun, the best wine in the world (ok this is subjective but our minervois red wine is winning so many awards) , french cuisine, village cafes and breathtaking landscapes then NOW is always the right time to buy.
Why deny yourself your dream secondary home any longer, imagine yourself soaking up the sun in the south of France long after those in England are locked down for a cold grey winter!!
The weather in the Minervois area where i live and work is fairly predictable and in a normal year from March onwards the weather starts warming up (sometimes in fits and starts but we have lots of warm sunny days). Then from June until the end of September the weather is warm to hot and from October to mid December the warm weather starts to cool and these months can also be the most beautiful with warm blue skied days as the leaves of the vineyards turn bright red in November. It is not usually cold until after christmas but the winter months are also sunny and we often get surprised with warm days.

All in all as a person who spends most of my day outdoors travelling around showing houses and in my spare time gardening and entertaining in said garden (with some sport thrown in as well) I think i have a pretty good handle on the climate here. I love the sun and my experience is that most days, the sun is delivered and when it's not the locals sink into depression pretty quickly, normally within 24 hours!!!. I often look at what the weather is doing in major cities like London and Paris and wonder how the locals there survive through those bleak cold winters. For me, 24 hours without sun on my face is way too long! So if like me, you like sun and warmth then NOW is the right time to buy a southern french property!
The market here has certainly been trending downwards since 2008 but i believe and my experience suggests, that property prices have been relatively stable here since 2015. So much depends on the individual property and when i have an exceptional property a great selling price can still be achieved and often is! The price expectations i am seeing from MY sellers today is compatible with current market prices which is good news for the real estate market. Officially depending on the source property prices in this area have dropped between 20-25% from pre 2008 prices which translates to 'there simply couldn't be a better time to be buying a property!'
In many ways I am very lucky because i work with a small group of properties and i won't take on the marketing of a property unless i believe it offers something special in its price category. I am passionate about property so i search for properties that have an 'X' factor, that 'something' which puts them above other properties on the market. I am passionate about what i do and i take pride in putting the right people with the right properties, be it buyers for a castle or a cool/well renovated/unique village house. And because I represent the best properties on the market NOW is always the right time to buy, I have excellent properties waiting for new owners NOW. Come and see for yourself!
SO yes NOW is the right time if you buy wisely. There are properties available NOW that would make excellent holiday rentals and this can cover all your property expenses for the year making a big difference to ongoing ownership costs.
Buy Now, Buy WISE!!
